we know how hard it is to get people to brush regularly, especially in that large northern nation . . .
This is a real break from the flouridated candy toothpaste that gets shoved our way.
This really works, and gets you brushing again, before those chompers fall out.
While beekeeping I learned the joy of propolis, a by product in the hive which develops on the outside of the interior frames and must be scraped off with a hive tool (really a hooked multi-purpose paint scraper). Great stuff to chew on while smoking the bees, and really healthy feeling. Sold by its weight in gold in the health food stores, free to apiculturists. Best stuff ever to chew on, and discernible in this toothpaste recipe.
Living way out here in the desert hours away from urban s, amazon provides a great service in sending out these six packs of toothpaste. So I won't have to re-order for a long time; I hope it is still available, even at this price. This is the brand and model I used to search health food and large supermarket stores for, available right here on the amazon for fair market value.
Best you can get.

I hate the cloyingly sweet mint (of every kind) commercial toothpaste comes in. I also am not wild about a list of chemical products I can't pronounce being in a product I am to place in my mouth twice daily. I love Tom's fennel. A natural product with a nice herbal flavor. No whitening, no fresh stripe, no glitter. Clean, refreshing, natural product.

I've been using Tom's of Maine fennel paste for 3 years now. I don't like the taste of mint, and didn't want to continue using Colgate Total, which contains Triclosan. This toothpaste has a delightfully sweet, though subtle, taste. Even if you don't like licorice, you may enjoy it. I also find it surprisingly effective vis-à-vis other brands. My only complaint is the tube itself, which unfailingly punctures after several squeezes, causing toothpaste to ooze everywhere. I'd keep it in a ziplock bag to avoid messes.

I had this toothpaste a few years ago and loved it, so I was happy to find it (and in bulk no less) on Amazon. If you're like me, and enjoy being adventurous with your toothpaste, you'll enjoy the fennel flavor. It tastes similar to licorice of course, but honestly has the earthy flavor of real fennel seed. The foaming ability of this toothpaste is also quite surprising. Also, this won't totally destroy the flavor of orange juice, though it still affects it for me.

I brought this product because I was concerned about the flouride in toothpaste. Unfortunately the ingredients are not listed in the product description. I thought Tom's of Maine was a good healthy brand and that's why I was very surprised when I recieved the product and noted that it contained Carrageenan, which is a natural additive used to thicken foods. It is derived from seaweed. The problem is it has been shown to irritate bowel lining in people who have IBS, Crohns disease and Ulcerative Colitis. It can suppress Immune function and cause inflammation. It has also been shown to be a carcinogenic. So do your own research on this substance and be aware before buying products that contain Carageenan.
